Fake Vespasian Sestertius?
« on: June 03, 2021, 09:51:56 am »
I have had this coin for many years and it looks like a cast copy of a Vespasian Sestertius. But, I have not found it in your list of Vespasian fakes or any other reference. Is this a known fake or a new one. Scans attached.

Hello Mario D

I am sure that no one will contradict okidoki.  The style is wrong and I bet if you look at the coin closely you will see casting bubbles.  The pics should be uploaded to the fake coin report gallery

You can also check this section of the Fake Coins Report.  Look for circular holes from air bubbles. Even if the picture doesn't have a vey high resolution, you can see some of them.

The weight is 27.8gm and the diameter is 35.6mm. I should be posted in your fake report list.

No I have not. I just listed it in the discussion. Should I make a fake coin report?
