Celtic trumpet brooches
« on: June 04, 2021, 05:06:55 am »
I often see these linked to the roman military, is there any merit to this or is this what ordinary citizens would wear aswell?

Anyone could wear it, it was just a style.

The Celtic trumpet motif appears on some military belt sets - e.g. Klosterneuberg-style - so that has made some people assume it is all military, which is not correct.  This kind of fibula has been found in women's graves as well as men's.
