Seal of John, Hypatos 8th or 9th Century? 25.92 mm 15.35g
« on: February 13, 2021, 04:56:25 pm »
I am cataloging this nice seal of John, Hypatos.  I was wondering whether it was late 8th Century or early 9th Century.  It appears to be the later to me.  It measures 25.92 mm  and weighs 15.35g.

Obverse: Cruciform invocative monogram (type V); Wreath border; Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ.

Reverse Cross with decorations above and below. Wreath border. Ἰωάννῃ ὑπάτῳ  (Seal of) John, Hypatos.

Below I think is an example from the same boulloterion.  What do you think as to the nice seal of Ioannes and its age?
