What is that small, cup-like device that was ground off in the first example?  (Just to the left of S-C.)  Is it a replica stamp??

These are sold as repros at the two museum shops in the colosseum, €4 each. There is a big bin full of them near the counter of the upstairs shop. Perhaps the seller bought them there.
