FORVM`s Classical Numismatics Discussion Board

Hallo!
Recently I've been made aware of a certain auction with several obvious and suspicious coins offered.
I see that one of this coins has been discussed here already: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=125398.0 (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=125398.0)
According to the rules I won't name the seller - let's just say that this three day auction starts on June 18th...
Mayby some of the other members of FAC would like to take a look and discover more "interesting coins" there.
I'll start withe the obvious ones...
Probus: all known and described fakes - and, yes, all three in the same auction...
Yours

Are they in the fake coin reports? If not, please add them. And what is so "special" about this auction? That is a rhetorical question. Buy coins from Forum Ancient Coins and you don't need to worry about some other seller's nonsense.

Hello!
Proper fake coin reports will follow. And yes, special - it's rather unusual to see so many fakes in one auction
I just hope, FAC members will look at some other specimens from there and discuss them here...

Sometimes, I do... ;)

I had posted these here earlier in reponse to the Hadrian from the same sale.

Sorry! Haven't seen it...

At this point, the auction house should be noted. In not an LRB guy, so not all of these are obvious to me fakes, while others look laughably crude. But if the chicanery extends beyond the lrb's on offer, outing the sales agent could save people money and anguish.
Are they nominated to the nfsl? Maybe they should be?

Many of the coins in question are now marked COLLECTORS COPY....
I hope the action house will withdraw them finally.

A bunch are now marked Withdawn - largely the ones highlighted here at FAC. Someone from the auction house likely read these topics.
