Square Bits in detector finds...scale weights?
« on: May 28, 2011, 06:16:36 pm »
Ave!

We've been coming across similar for years, but have never been sure what they are.

Thanks for any help with these!

Best,

Kevin

One hint might be if you compare their weight and find some that match.  They look like weights but you'd expect some would share their mass in common and large ones multiples of the smaller.  Put 'em on a scale and tell us what you find.  Size and material would be helpful as well.

Ave Tom!

Duh...

Okay, here's how they weigh out;

The lightest is .5gm, the heavyest is 26.1gm.

10 weigh in at exactly 2.9gm, 5 are 6.9gm, another four are at 1.6gm, the rest at other weights.

Scale weights? Si or No?

Thanks,

Kevin

I agree that they are probably weights, but I wonder about gaming pieces for a couple of them. Just theorizing. :)

Chris, I had to take a shower and you beat me to the post. I was thinking the same exact thing. With the consistancies with weights I say they ate weights :)

however, I thought clgaming pieces for some as well.

Maybe you can put weights next to each one in a big photo.  Having a group that all share a single weight is real interesting, but it's hard to know if they look alike as well.  the heaviest one is exactly 9 X the 2.9 gm.  having things that are in exactly multiple weight relationships is a pretty good hint.  Not all have 'exact multiple' relationships but we're possibly onto somthing.

Oh, and hi to tom :)
