Is this Nero??
« on: December 28, 2004, 12:25:22 am »
AE29 Radiate head rt. Rev: Figure seated rt. w/ (?) at feet. Small  C in rt. field. and possibly TA to left around 10 o' clock. Obv; letters hard to make out, possible KIA to lower left. Is this Nero - I can't seem to find any examples of him w/ a radiate head rt. and the closest rev. I found had the figure seated left. Any ideas??

Yes, Nero, dupondius, rev. SECVRITAS AVGVSTI S C, altar before seated Securitas, probably from the Thracian mint whose products are very poorly covered in RIC and RPC, reflecting the knowledge of c. 1955!
