SNG Cop pdfs on Gallica
« on: July 21, 2022, 07:35:38 am »
The fairy godmothers/godfathers at Gallica in Paris have done it again.

They have scanned all their individual volumes of SNG Copenhagen for us to download and enjoy.
I was going to make a list with the links to all the volumes, but it was getting a bit much, so below you can find the link to the page which lists all the available volumes with their download links.

If you have never downloaded from gallica before, click a title, wait for it to appear, then in the panel on the right, click on the download icon, confirm that it is for your own private use, click the red Download button and tell it where you want to download it to (e.g. a special SNG_Cop folder on your harddisk. Then after it has downloaded use the <- arrow a couple of times to get back to the list.

https://gallica.bnf.fr/services/engine/search/sru?operation=searchRetrieve&version=1.2&maximumRecords=50&collapsing=true&exactSearch=true&query=dc.subject%20adj%20%22Nationalmuseet%20%20Copenhague%20%22#resultat-id-7

Some notes:
1. Lydia is in the list as Lydia Part 1 (Acrasus-Saitta), but includes Part 2, Sala to Tripolis

2. Similarly, Macedonia is in the list as Part 1 (Acanthus - Uranopolis - Dynasts) but includes Part II (Kings, Alexander I to Alexander III) and Part III (Philip III - Philip VI, Macedonia under the Romans, Kings of Paeonia)

3. There are three pdfs for Italy: Part 2 only, Part 3 only, and Parts 1,2 and 3 combined.

4. Caria is in two parts. Ionia is in three parts. Phrygia is in two parts. Sicily is in two parts. Thrace is in two parts. When you click on the link for that region/volume, it will show you a list of the parts.

5. Some volumes are untitled in the list, e.g. Fasc. 40 (and 41). Just click on the link and check the title.

6. If you have never used SNG Cop, be warned: All the Greek legends are, for some peculiar reason, given in lower case.

The volumes for "Troas" and "Spain and Gaul" seem to be not yet digitized, or did I miss something?

Now, now, don't be greedy  ;D
I didn't see them, but maybe they are still on the "to scan" list.

SNG Cop in PDF! Brilliant!  If you're looking for a table of contents, try mine (here).

I was looking on BnF's Gallica site today for the de Luynes Collection inventory.  While they didn't (yet?) post the Macedonian part, it's fascinating to see the original handwritten lists.  Such beautiful handwriting.

Many thanks, Dane, for sharing the list of BnF collections and, now SNG Cop.  I'll have to go see if I can find the 2002 SNG Cop. Supplement. (or is that being too greedy too?  ::)

I have the book (i.e. printed book) of the SNG Cop Supplement (additions to 1996). It was published in 1997 so is unlikely to be scanned, as it is still well into the copyright period.
It too is the ridiculously large format. I cannot understand why they used such an odd format for SNG Cop, von Aulock etc.
If you need a scan of a coin from the supplement, let me know - I would struggle copying an entire page (would require two scans on my HP, then rotating and sticking together), but single coins or small groups of coins would be no problem.

While they didn't (yet?) post the Macedonian part,

Could you let me know the probable coin numbers which you say are missing from de Luynes ? I can check my own Luynes pdfs to see if I have them.
