Gordianus III Antoninianus unsure
« on: February 12, 2022, 07:56:53 am »
After discovering a fake yesterday, I got a bit panic. I am new to the subject, so I post another suspicious coin. It was bought from a serious, well known retailer in Spain and approved by auction expert.
My doubts:
- I bought it cheap
- it's grainy in 20x magnification (but the originals look all a bit grainy)
- The reverse side is a bit soapy.
Nontheless the obverse is perfect sharp, the surface is nice, there are some strike lines. It also has not been reported.
The weight is 4,41g, diameter 22,1-23,2 mm, almost perfect 180° allignement.

I don't see anything in the photos to condemn this coin.

I agree. Not sure what you would consider cheap, but Gordian III coins (even at high grade) sell at pretty low prices.
