probvs serdika, gamma
germanicus:
hi all
my bust type is different, not sure if thats relevant to the RIC, i know bust type variations are confusing for probvs
if anybody has any specific RIC comments about the officina/bust type and could provide them , i would be happy to add further details for my coin
IMP C M AVR PROBVS AVG / PROVIDEN DEOR / RIC 845 (?)
KHr (* middle field)
thanks :)
jbaran:
RIC 845 is correct, it covers radiate draped, radiate cuirassed, and radiate draped and cuirassed...in this case it looks like the obverse legend is the key.

germanicus:
thats a relief joe ,
any hint of a date for this officina coin
the example here http://www.probvs.info/ for ric 845 serdika is quoted as being 276 ad
i am sure its correct and will take it as that (unless told otherwise)
many thanks
cscoppa:
A very big key is that PROVIDEN DEOR without the T is only attributed to Serdica. If you go the site http://www.probvs.info/ and look at the Bust type pictures you should see yours is like type F. And F is one of the three Bust types listed for this attributation. The others are A & C. The BIGGEST key is the PROVIDEN that is Tless.
germanicus:
thanks for doing that chip
interesting to see
where it lists obv , is the "2" a code for my specific legend , as that is not listed there
i cant see the dots in my exergue ? ( KA . r . ) as the ric says ?
thanks
ps i thought RIC listed dates of mintage for coins/types etc ?
how would i know what year my coin was minted if its listed in ric
