Sold as Volusian but think it's Valarian?
« on: May 19, 2007, 02:26:08 pm »
After receiving this coin and not being able to read the legends, decided to try and clean it up a bit. I can now read most of the legends.

IMP CAE[RAS] LL OVNAHHIR [first R looks like S? first S looks like R? so IMP CAESAR LL...?]
Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right
ANTIOCHI OCL
River-god reclines left, holds cornucopia, leans on upturned urn. SR in exergue.
21mm / 5.3 grams
( ? )

Any help confirming identity and attribution would be greatly appreciated!

Best,

William Peters

Hi William!

IMP CAERAS LL OVNAHHIR is a well-known legend for Valerian I from Antioch in Pisidia.
