Hi folks,

Today, I swapped out 12 sub-par (blurry) Greek Italy photos (Paestum - Velia).

I a now finished swapping out my blurry Greek Italy photos. I thought I was done a few weeks ago, but my small coins needed to be re-shot and not fully cropped. I will probably have to do the same thing for my other sections (Greek Sicily, etc.).

Hi folks,

I figured that I would provide a status report.

As Forum members know, several weeks ago, I thought I was all done swapping out my sub-par (blurry) website photos. And I decided to re-crop my photos and then edit my text. However, while I was going through my website photos, I noticed that many of them, particularly my small coins, were still blurry. So, I decided to re-shoot them and leave them partially un-cropped so that they wouldn't be so blurry. I was in the process of doing that when something came up.

That "something" is the fact that my computer is 6 years old. I purchased it in 2015. Little by little, things have been breaking on it. The entire navigation area has been broken for about a year or more. I have been using a wireless mouse since then. Recently, my computer got very, very slow. It literally takes 10-20 times longer to complete simple tasks. And it keeps freezing up. Obviously, I have needed a new computer for quite some time now, but I kept putting it off. Yesterday, I finally broke down and ordered a new computer. It should arrive in a few days.

However, there was a minor problem. My computer's hard drive was cluttered with many files that had accumulated over the past few years. I had about 1,500 files on my hard drive that needed to be sorted and processed. That is what I have been doing for the past few weeks. And that is why I haven't been working on my website for the past few weeks. I finally finished sorting and processing all 1,500 files today. So tomorrow, I should be able to resume working on my website.

I ordered a computer that is very similar to the computer I have now (HP laptop, Intel i5 microprocessor, Windows 10 operating system, etc.). It is basically a newer version of this computer. The only major difference is that HP no longer uses hard drives. Everything is SSD now, which I think is the same technology as flash drives. Part of the reason for buying a very similar computer is that I want a smooth transition, especially considering the fact that I am still in the process of working on my website after 6 years (I began in 2015, when I got this computer). When my new computer arrives, hopefully, I will transfer all of my website-related files from my old computer and/or from my flash drive to my new computer. Hopefully, it will go smoothly, without any "bugs" or bumps in the road.

If anyone has any advice to offer me regarding this transition, then please offer it. As always, I appreciate any and all advice.

Hi folks,

I have a question for Forum members.

When I got this computer 6 years ago, several Forum members (including owner Joe and Andrew McCabe) advised me to delete and un-install the McAfee that came with my computer. I assume that it was good advice because nothing bad happened as a result of me deleting and un-installing it. Assuming that my new computer comes with McAfee (I don't know yet), should I do the same thing? Should I delete and un-install it?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hi folks,

My new computer was supposed to arrive on Thursday. However, it arrived yesterday.

I set it up today. I am typing this post on my new computer.

I deleted and uninstalled McAfee. Then, I went to the Mcafee website and used the removal tool to remove all associated files.

I downloaded my browsers, Apple iTunes, and Filezilla. I set up all of my icons on my desktop.

I tested my mouse. It worked.

I tested my flash drive. It worked. I successfully transferred all of my website pages (files) from my flash drive to my new computer.

I tested my old iPhone 4 and did a test run. I successfully transferred photos from my iPhone 4 to my new computer.

I set up my Filezilla app (page) and successfully linked it to the appropriate file folder in my hard drive.

However, I encountered one major problem. I tried to download the HTML-Kit to my new computer, but it wouldn't work. I tried numerous times. I kept getting an error (502 "Bad Gateway"). I tried 2 alternate links numerous times, but they also failed. I kept getting the same error or a 404 error ("backend" error). Without the HTML-Kit, I can't work on my website. I sent an email to the HTML-Kit technical support. I haven't received an answer yet.

Hi folks,

I received an email response from HTML Kit technical support. They provided me with a working link. I successfully downloaded the HTML Kit file onto my new computer. I think I am all ready to go now. I can resume working on my website, either tonight or tomorrow.

As I mentioned above, I successfully loaded everything else and tested everything I can think of, including doing trial runs.

I know I am responding to an old request regarding your new computer and I am sure you already know the answer. I also just want to say I appreciate your web site, although I don't comment much about it. I do look at it quite often.

Anyway, I am sure you know your new computer is fine and in fact the SSD is better as a hard drive than the mechanical ones. Less chance for failure and faster and everything is going this way eventually. I built a desktop last year and used a SSD for the C: drive and installed a large capacity mechanical drive for data storage just to keep the main drive clutter free and only for programs.
