Anastasius I Solidus - blundered legend(?)
« on: February 20, 2004, 02:53:03 am »
Hi all,

This solidus of Anastasius I appears to be a variation of Sear 3, but with TERP rather than PERP in the obverse legend, I presume in error.

Would anyone know if this has been noted in any more comprehensive reference?

Thanks,
Steve

might be an error coin where instead P (PERP = perpetuatae - meaning "long -lived") an T cutted and few or hundred coins minetd before noticed... anyhow seems unlisted to me if not Barbarian imitation - which I belive it is not..

From otherhand  TERP anyhow makes no sence;  TR.P. or TR.POT   I can understand - Tribunicia Potestas, but with  TERP bite me as have no ideas! :)
