Help pls... w/ large Trajan, can't decipher letters in ex.
« on: December 12, 2007, 11:57:42 pm »
AE 34  23.3g.  Laureate bust of Trajan right.   PAIAN :Greek_Omega:APICT(:Greek_Omega:?)CE is all I can read. Reverse shows figure standing holding something in rt. hand and maybe a bird on outstretched left arm.
In ex: Looks like  (??)PNKYA(R?) not sure on some of them. I thought it was from Cappadocia, Caesarea based on obv. legend. Anyone have any ideeas on it? Thanks!

I think I nailed it down to Trajan, Cyprus BMC 40. Unfortunately I lost the page w/ the description of the reverse.

It seems like the FORVM has one listed. Reverse is:
Zeus Salaminios standing, holding patera and eagle. I gather this is an unusual or at least uncommon coin.
