Hoard of 8,407 medieval silver coins

Lucky metal detectorists in Scotland have found a hoard, now known as the Dunscore Hoard. It is made up of more than 8,400 silver coins dating from the medieval period, mostly the 13th and 14th centuries.

interesting, the article speaks of them recording/weighing et et each coin. I wonder what organinzational approach they take to recording these.
