Title: How to interpret Greek dates on Seleucia (Seleukid) coins
Post by: Yami P on January 11, 2019, 01:00:08 pm
Dear members:

The coin is from Seleucia during the Seleukid era (Parthian Kingdom). It has Greek symbols (Omega, pi, Y)  ΩπY
Does anyone know what the date is? Using the FORVM table I come up with 284. Is this correct? and what is the AD and BC assignment?? Would like to know who the ruler was  during that time.

Thanks!

Look here: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=Greek%20Dates

to read Greek numbers.

Your date must be between 480 - 489, as first figure is not read correctly.

These dates convert to 168 - 179 AD.
