Now my copy of Nicopolis ad Istrum has arrived too, thanks to Pat Lawrence.  I will add any anomalies to this thread as I work through my coins - of which I have many fewer than Jochen or Pat.  Coins I post here might have been posted elsewhere too, but it will be useful to see them again in this context.

This is the first coin I checked:

Caracalla. 16mm x 17mm, 3.09g
Obverse: M AYP KAI• ANTΩNINO  Bare head right.
Reverse: NIKOΠOΛITΩN ΠPOC ICTPO •  Star in crescent moon.
Ref:
a) Don't know about AMNG.
b) Not in Varbanov I (English).
c) Not in Hristova/Jekov (8.18.48.---), but the obv. is at  8.18.7.6 (thanks to Pat for pointing this out).

Thanks Bill for the contribution. I can add: not in AMNG. So we can give it for identification reasons the number

A completely new type for Caracalla & Geta

Caracalla und Geta
AE 25, 10.80 g
struck under Ovinius Tertullus
obv. AV.Κ.M [AVR] ANTWN[INOC K] L.CEP.
        below KAI GETAC
Heads of Caracalla, laureate, r., and Geta, bare-headed, l.
rev. VPA [OOV TEP]TVLLOV.NΙΚOPOLΙTW[Ν / PROC I]
Septimius Severus in military cloak, stg. l., resting with raised l. hand on spear and
holding in r. hand a small Nike stg. l. (with wreath)
ref. a) AMNG I/1, 1624 (1 ex., München)
      b) Varbanov (engl.) 3167

          The entire type not listed!

And here's another, which both is and is not in Hr/J.

Caracalla. 17mm, 3.19g
Obverse: (...) ANTΩN  Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Reverse: NIKOΠOΛIT ΠPOC ICTPON  Crescent moon with a dot at the tip of each arm, containing one large star and two smaller ones.

Ref:

a) Not in AMNG.
b) Not in Varbanov I (English).
c) See Hristova/Jekov 8.18.48.8.  Although the book gives the legends differently, this is the same reverse die and it might also be the same obverse, though that is not so certain.  The book has transcribed the reverse legend incorrectly. Although the illustration is not completely clear, you can see on it the last two letters of the reverse legend ON.

The obverse is clearly the same type, seen from directly to one side, with the shoulder clasp centred.  The first part of the legend is off the flan on my specimen. The second part lacks the terminal O given in the book, and I suspect this is is lacking on the illustrated coin also. But I can't see the shoulder clasp in the illustration, so I could be wrong about the obverse.  If this is not the same obverse die as my coin, I think mine must be new.

So, a correction is needed to the book.

I would call it H/J No.8.18.48.8 corr. I think there are much more corrections. Very often the written legends don't fit the legends on the depicted coins.

#49  This coin belongs with what I think of as the "Eutychos issue".  My album contains only the specimens I have in hand for photography.  This coin, #49, is one that I would have expected/wished to exist; sometimes they do come to light, as here.
For album: http://picasaweb.google.com/slokind/TERTULLUSSTUDYGROUP#   Nos. 10-14 go with #49.

Yes, I am starting to find others.  Is anyone logging these errors for the benefit of the authors?

I think that both of them are, perhaps especially Jekov; in the initial post, Jochen said that Hristova had asked if we could do a thread like that for Marcianopolis.

If we start to collect such corrections would it not be better to start a new thread to not confuse them with the Addenda?

That would be useful. These long threads with many images are slow and awkward to load.

New die combination.

Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
AE 18, 2.6g
Obv: AV Λ C CEVHPOC
        Head, laureate, r.
Rev: NIKOΠOΛI ΠPOC IC
Demeter standing left, holding corn-ears and resting on long torch.
Ref: a) Not in AMNG I (but see the similar 1353)
        b) Varbanov I (English) 2259
        c) Not in Hristova/Jekov.
        rev. is at 8.14.5.4.
obv. is at 8.14.39.19, incorrectly described.

This obverse die is similar to the one ilustrated at 8.14.5.4. but is not identical. Here are some of the differences:
- If Hr/J have described the obv. legend of their die correctly, the obv. legend of this die is different.
- The last C of the obv. legend is larger on this die, and closer to the end of the neck.
- The shaft of the letter P on this die points directly at the beard.  On the illustrated die, it points above the beard.
