Does electrum tarnish or form a patina?

If so, how would one clean it?

The silver content would surely tarnish. I never clean silver toning, and I wouldn't expect to do so with electrum.

Yes, well, Scythian gold 'tarnishes', often with a fine reddish cast (the big 6th-century pieces).  But I've never seen an electrum coin tarnished like silver.  I suspect that the native alloy is pretty stable and contains just enough silver to make the gold pale but enough gold not to tarnish significantly.  Lovely stuff.  Not that I've handled any of them!  It is one desideratum that I find difficult to fulfill.  Pat L.
