Ave Shawn,

Anti-Fascist Committee of the Soviet Youth (1941-1956). It united various civic, professional, sports, student, cultural, etc. organizations of the Soviet youth.

As this was ground-found in Croatia, we can only speculate that the proud wearer of this medallion was simply a Soviet soldier, a grunt, per say, who crossed the Danube River to fight against the Nazi's?

Such a poignant reminder of who you he was...

Mayadigger,
With "Moskovskiy Energeticheskiy Institut" on top of this token, reading the comment on Wikipedia to your last post:

"The Committee of the Soviet Youth Organizations or USSR Youth Organization Committee (Russian: Комитет молодёжных организаций СССР (КМО СССР)) was a public organization in the Soviet Union primarily in the field of international youth relations. It was established in 1956 on the basis of the Anti-Fascist Committee of the Soviet Youth (1941-1956). It united various civic, professional, sports, student, cultural, etc. organizations of the Soviet youth."

I doubt if the "Committee" is the same as the "Counsel"(Soviet).

Thank you, Jan!

The central object is an open book, right?

What is the object above?

The flames of a torch, you can just make out the torch handle on the left side of the book - "illuminating the youth" and all that....
