Geta
« on: April 10, 2021, 06:02:42 am »

Hi,
this ae 28 surely Geta, the reverse does not read anything except AC in the exergue.
For me it is the city of Pautalia, I also found an iconography similar to the reverse with its own AC in exergue, but this iconography lacked the figure behind the throne, (Nike crowning?).
I kindly ask for a suggestion on my hypothesis and possibly a classification.
 Thank you and greetings.

I can make out the beginning of the legend and the end, ie OVL and ALI, so this coin is certain to be from Pautalia.

The obverse legend is something like AYT K P CEPTIMI GETAC or CEPTIMIOC, thus struck when Geta was Augustus.

Clueless

Hi! Nice and interesting coin
The figure behind the throne reminds of Elpis / Spes (imho)

Thanks,
I have the feeling that there is no classification in this reverse.

Neither Ruzicka nor Varbanov list this coin.

I found a very similar type of imperial Aureus (from CNG)
The small figure is described as Spes, so its correctly to say about Elpis in Pautalia's case
