Valerian I-Nikaea
« on: March 19, 2021, 09:55:54 am »

Hi,
the interesting thing about this coin are the two counter-marks on the obverse and the reverse.
The coin is of Valerian I for the city of Nikaea and is classified I believe as RG 798.
On the obverse we find a CMQ "B" in oval, this countermark I found in Howgego as n. 758 for Nikaea, but only one coin is recorded for Gordian III.
On the reverse, the CMQ should be the number 66 as the "emperor's head in oval".
I kindly ask if my inferences on the CMQ classifications are correct.
I ask why my English is almost nil.
 I thank.
