One of the better depictions of this Empress. From the coins I have seen, she was not a good looker and the style of her issues seem on the crude level of execution. From what I've read it was an arranged marriage to extend property estates in Italy from her father. Think in the end Commodus trumped charges against her and was executed.
Scarce Empress and yours is very nice!

Perhaps it has more to do with the skill of the die engravers than with Crispina's looks. My denarius is certainly in fine style and certainly is not crude.

Compare her facial features (minus the hair, of course) with that of
her husband, and you will often see a distinct similarity, especially
with his earlier, more youthful portraits.
