Constantine I Replica
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:41:46 am »
I recently got this silver copy of a golden multiple of Constantine I. Weight 4.70 g. diameter 26 mm.
I found it in FAC fakes as AR Miliarense REPLICA 26mm , RIC VII 27, p. 299 ( https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?album=47&pos=107 ), but I cannot find it there...
Help, thankyou

I don't understand what you are asking.

In Dr. Ilya Prokopov's faake Ancient Coin Reports, at the address
 https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?album=47&pos=107
I found the same replica I bought. It's reference, there, is: RIC VII, 27, page 299, but in RIC, at that page I couldn't find anything similar to this replica, so I'm asking if the reference is incorrect or if I wasn't able to understand it.
Is the replica I post a copy of a real silver coin (a Miliarense, as in that report) or just a silver reproduction of a golden multiple?
Hoping that my poor English could be understood, I thank you in advance

This is the correct link: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?pos=-4143
Yes justinopolitanus, your coin is a match to that fake. The specimen you posted is a bit worn and scratched, to seem old
Just reported.. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?pos=-14985

Bye

Thank you Taras!
Does this fake match a real coin, a Miliarense?
I cannot find a real Miliarense such this one, neither in RIC VII, 27 nor elsewhere...
If this replica matches a real coin, please tell me the reference, since at that page I cannot find it.
Thank you!

It is imitated from a gold multiple RICVII 163 which is illustrated on plate 16.

Thank you, I just updated the report with your comment.
So, in my opinion,  it should be better to delete "AR Miliarense" and "RIC VII, 27, page 299" from the record.
