Carved Bone Pendant, Bead or Buckle? from Caesarea Maritima

Hi, all.  I am wondering if anyone has seen something like this.  It could be a bead or pendant/amulet.  The tip is broken, though it looks like it was tapering to a point.  It has a vague appearance of an Arabic script, but nothing I recognize right off-hand.  All sides are finished and edges are slightly rounded, so I think it is unlikely to be an inlay.  Maybe protection from the "evil eye"?  Any ideas or leads would be appreciated.  Thanks, Jimi

Or maybe part of a bone buckle?  The one on the right is from NY MMoA, Herculaneum.  No info for the one on the left.

That's what I believe too.

Thank you, Shawn!  I'll go with that.
