Evening guys and girls, hope we are all well and enjoying a pleasant week thus far. Bit stumped with regards to this coin, it's not one I have seen before. Measures 17mm and weighs 2.01g. Cheers for opinions and suggestions as ever. Stuart

Looks like 'barbarian' imitation of this type of reverse:

On obverse is probably Constantine II with bust type I1 l.

Evening Lech, that's definitely the reverse, I do not have much experience when it comes to barbarous imitations but is it fair to say this is one of the better struck ones the obverse is particularly nice looking to my eye anyway. Is there any way to attribute this further or is it only able to be identified as an barbarian imitation? Thanks again and have a nice evening

No, it is not an imitation of this type. The mintmark is different.

What do you mean by "hunt"? As far as I know an official coin of this type is not known. So it is not listed anywhere and you can only hunt for similar (but official) specimen. Good luck and don't forget to report your sucess here.

BTW If you can make a better picture of the obverse (whole flan), I could add your coin the "irregular coins" section on my website.

Evening Lech, it was more just a case of the 'hunt' being to attribute the coin. It just looked to good to imitative to me was all my friend. I have attached another picture of the obverse jf its not good enough I shall take another. Unfortunately I only have my mobile phone to take these pictures. Enjoy your Sunday.

Thanks. I would prefer more sharp picture - like the first one but with the whole obverse.

Nice coin. Imitatives sometimes even surpass the prototype in eye appeal.

Here are some of my imitation coins. If you are interested you can add them to your website
