Unpublished Elagabalus from Milet?
« on: June 21, 2022, 09:48:30 am »
Hi,

I just received the following coin:

AE 35, 20.70 grm.
Obv. [...]KAI M AYR AN[...], laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right
RV. [...] MILHSIWN, tetrastyle temple (of Apollo Didymus?)

The obverse looks like a die-match with RPC VI, 5314 (temp.). However, I could not find anything with Isegrim or RPC.

So, if anyone can help, this is highly appreciated. Otherwise (or anyway), it is (likely) an RPC submission candidate.

Best

Thilo

I guess I got lucky as it was described as a Geta from Mylasa by the seller.

Great score, nice coin.
I was going to bid on that one too, having recognised the listing error and the correct identity
of the piece itself, but I got momentarily distracted and missed out. I have been kicking myself
ever since. I was surprised that that particular company made a mistake, as they are generally
very good. C'est la vie!
