Is this Valerian SNG Levante 381 or 378
« on: January 11, 2022, 03:25:22 pm »
Recent acquisition that has been through two auction houses in the last decade. One attributed the coin as SNG Levante 381 (Same Dies) the other SNG Levante 378 (same Obv as 380)

I haven't acquired the correct SNG reference work to check the discrepancy. Which should it be 381 or 378?

So, it would appear that SNG Levante 381 is indeed "your coin."  The other (378) has a slightly different obverse legend and supposedly no patera.  Let's see if that is true by taking a peek at the Paris specimen:

Looks good to me!  Hope this helps.
