Hi folks,

As I mentioned above, I will post my medals next. However, there is a bit of a problem.

When I was posting my coins, I would do 1 or 2 batches at a time. I was able to do that because my coins are organized and in order.

My medal are not organized or in order. They are randomly and haphazardly stored in boxes. Consequently, I must change my procedure for them. I can't do a batch at a time because I don't know how to label/number my photos or even organize and number my website pages. Therefore, I have decided to shoot all of my medal photos at once. I actually did that today. I shot almost 800 photos today. I will process them, organize them, and number them. This process may take a few days or a few weeks.

After I am done processing and numbering all of my medal photos, I will have a better idea of exactly how to organize and number my website pages. Then, I will save the photos and website pages to my flash drive and then upload them to Joe's server.

I also shot all of my antiquities photos today. I have only about 10 antiquities.

Due to this change in procedure, I probably won't be uploading and posting anything to my website until I have figured out how to number my photos and pages.

Hi folks,

Today, I added 3 new pages to my website:

Medals, Italy, Genoa, Part 1:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/meepzorp/medalitl_genoa_pt01.htm

Medals, Italy, Genoa, Part 2:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/meepzorp/medalitl_genoa_pt02.htm

Medals, Italy, Genoa, Part 3:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/meepzorp/medalitl_genoa_pt03.htm

I have a few dozen medals. This is the first batch of medals I am posting.

By far, I have more Genoa medals than any other city or type. So, I decided to do those first. My paternal grandparents came from Genoa, and that is why I like to collect Genoese coins and related items (medals, etc.).

Your medals (both Genoa and Turin) are just amazing, such an interesting area to collect. I look forward to seeing future entries.

Hi VH,

Thanks for the message. :)

I did those 2 cities first because they are my "bulk cities". I have multiple medals from those cities. I have medals from other Italian cities, but it is pretty much one medal per city. I also have Italian medals issued for a person (scientists, etc.).

Additionally, I have medals from other countries, including 3 different 1892-1893 Columbus Exposition medals issued here in the USA.

Hi Meep,

Love these medal pages, and I especially love that Swiss medal. Such intricate detail.

Will you be updating a Japanese medals page in the future? Collecting Japanese Orders, Decorations, and Medals is another obsession, err I mean collecting focus, of mine.  :)

All the best,

Tracy

Hi TA,

Thanks for the message.

No, I don't have any Japanese medals. The only Japanese item I have is the one coin I posted in my Modern World pages.

You have a really great collection!  I think the arrowhead that you labeled obsidian? is more likely to be chert.  Obsidian is a natural glass, and has a glassy luster.  Chert has a waxy luster, and appears to me to be like the arrowhead in your photo.

I don't understand why you can't just store your images on your own computer like I have done since the the late 1990's

http://images.mrbrklyn.com/coins/

It is not hard and not expensive.

Hi RS,

Huh? ???

I don't fully understand your comment. What is your point?

I keep a copy of my images. My website is an educational and research tool. Anyone in the world can look at it. It also acts as a registry site in the event of loss or theft.

I'm with Meepz. on this one! I've just been scanning through all the pages (again!) lately looking for any matching collector tags to one I just received (British, late 19th / early 20th cent, not Grantley, Rogers or Lockett -- though Lockett did add "AE8" at the top! Couldn't find it in the Brit. Num. Soc. database of coin tickets [LINK] either but may email them).

In the process, really enjoyed seeing the breadth of the collection and variety of prior old collections from which it's been constituted. I love all the dealer / collector tags! (Wow, I thought I had a lot of Lindgren plate coins, but you must have at least several dozen!)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses it for such purposes, though our exact interests surely vary, which is the value in making your data public, of course.
