J. Domna hybrid or contemporary immitation?
« on: January 02, 2007, 08:37:57 am »
This J. Domna denarius has a VICT PART MAX reverse type. The obverse seems ok to me, but the writing on the reverse seems a tad crude. I'm not sure if it is an official hybrid or an contemporary forgery.

A contemporary counterfeit, for sure; the style falls quite a bit short of the official level!

Thanks Curtis, I guess I was putting most of the stylistic problems down to the poor condition.
