Hi folks,
As I explained above, my old iPhone 4 died several days ago. For several years (since 2015), I
had been using it to shoot photos for my coin project. Going forward, I will have to use my Android phone, which is only a few months old. However, since I am unfamiliar with it, it is taking time for me to figure everything out. Today, I shot my next series of photos.
When I attempted to transfer the photos to my HP laptop computer, I experienced a major problem. My computer wasn't recognizing my Android phone. The USB cable was connected to my computer and Android phone, but my computer kept telling me that it wasn't connected. I opened my file window, and it was the same reading. My computer was showing that my Android phone wasn't connected to it despite the fact that it really was. It was another one of those "technical glitch moments". I figured that it
had to be something simple and/or stupid. But what?
I did several internet searches and came across about 15 different trouble-shooting websites for these
types of issues. Of course, as usual, most of them are absolutely useless. I finally came across one technically-detailed and lengthy website that seemed to contain useful information. There was a big, long list of trouble-shooting techniques and sets of instructions to follow. I grinded through them one by one. When I reached the fifth or sixth set of trouble-shooting instructions, I finally hit "pay dirt".
It turned out that my Android phone
had the "data transfer" mode turned off. It was blocking all data transfer. I don't know why. I assume that this is some sort of factory default setting. That is why my computer wasn't recognizing it, and it kept telling me that it wasn't connected despite the fact that it really was. As soon as I clicked on "enable file transfer", the photos appeared in my computer's photo app almost instantaneously, faster than you can blink your eyes. There they were.
I knew it was something simple and/or stupid. But the hardest
part is trying to figure out which one of those simple/stupid things is actually the problem. It took me about 45 minutes of trouble-shooting, and I wanted bang my
head against the wall, but it finally worked. I was able to successfully transfer my photos from my Android phone to my HP laptop computer.
I didn't process the photos yet. I will probably do that later today or tomorrow.
