Thanks Aarmale, Q, glad you guys like them!

I changed the way I'm photographing my coins, namely taking the picture with a black background and then just cropping them to size.  Q and others have been doing this all along but I've finally caught on!

This has sped things up considerably so I'm looking forward to adding more of my collection to the gallery soon.

Thanks Q!

Here are four more.

1st, a hard to find Titus / Tripod denarius.  I would not want to butt heads with this guy!

2nd, Divus Vespasian / Quadriga. Rough but really nice in hand and well detailed reverse.

3rd, Clodius Albinus / Roma. I just love the portrait on this one.

4th, Tiberius / Pax

I always appreciate the comments and corrections.

Thanks Q, I have several of this type but I really liked the Tiberius portrait. One more never hurts, does it?

I just received this in the mail today, a rare Titus as Caesar in Quadriga RIC 371.

What's interesting is that it's a reverse die match to a rare Vespasian in quadriga.

What do you make of this?

Fantastic addition!

It does look like a die match with your Vespasian. Apparently Vespasian and Titus Caesar denarii were struck from the same workshop in the mint.

Thanks David and Jay.  I think this one flew under the radar because of lousy sellers pictures.

I wonder if this is an accidental mule or might they have intentionally used an old anepigraphic reverse for both?

This should be one of the earliest Emperor in Quadriga rev. dies, because of its combination on your coin with an AVG P M obv. die. That AVG P M obv. legend was an earlier form than AVG P M COS IIII, Vespasian's usual obv. legend for the Emperor in Quadriga rev. type. We have to bear in mind, however, that it is a rare type that probably wasn't produced for long and used comparatively few rev. dies.

On bronze coins there are many shared rev. dies between Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian. So I wouldn't consider your shared rev. die on denarii of Vespasian and Titus to be anything unusual, requiring special explanation.

Thanks Q.

I just spent a little time fooling around in my gallery, trying to make some of my descriptions more interesting. I modified a great write up by Curtis Clay from Gemini IX along with a picture. What do you think of this?

I created a new folder and downloaded the picture.  You then right click on the picture and copy the image address or location.   Paste the address in your description where you want the picture to appear.

At the beginning of the address add img inside two square brackets [] and at the end of the script add /img inside two square brackets [].

Then save your changes and the image appears.

Thanks to Alex for posting this a while back.
