The following was recently sold on Ebay - looks like a cast to my eyes - Is it a fake?

Described by the seller as:

HIGH QUALITY ROMAN SILVER DENARIUS OF EMPEROR HADRIAN. GREAT DETAILS !!!
OBV: EMPEROR FACING RIGHT
RV: SNAKES COMING OUT OF AN ALTAR
INSCRIPTION IS  PRESERVED
17 mm / 2.7 GR. / SILVER
SPECTACULAR OBJECT IN GOOD CONDITION.

Though I'm not 100% sure I'd have to say it is a modern cast fake.  There would be no way that I would bid on or buy such a coin.

"Great Details..." is a less than accurate description.

I can't say with absolute certainty either, but agree it looks cast; soft & fuzzy - the whole thing looks bad to my eyes.  I wouldn't want it even if it were authentic and I could have it for a dollar.
I'm no expert on Hadrian's coinage, but I've never seen such a reverse for Hadrian either, and know of only one 'altar' reverse (sans god or goddess), with flames, that looks nothing like this.
That this Seller has sold Cast fakes before and his (coin) auctions are all Private Listings, are no great recommendations for this one, either.

I leave it to expert(s) to condemn  it outright.

It's a modius with grain ears and poppy. Ref: RIC 230, RSC 170a, BMC 600.
