UNKNOWN COIN HELP PLEASE.

8852. Copper as, SRCV II 4296, RIC III 934, BMCRE IV 1971, Cohen 117, aF, weight 11.52 g, maximum diameter 26.0 mm, die axis 180o, British? mint, 154 -155 A.D.; obverse ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP TRP XVIII, laureate head right; reverse BRITANNIA [COS IIII], SC in ex, Britannia seated left on rock, in attitude of dejection, shield and vexillum behind; unusual legible BRITANNIA,
INDENTICAL TO ABOVE DESCRIPTION  BUT
COIN IS XVII, NOT XVIII LIKE ABOVE COIN.

Can you provide a clear picture, please? This one is of such poor resolution as to be almost useless. However, it does show enough to suggest that by its style this is a modern item made in imitation of an ancient coin and not an actual ancient -- but a better photo would clarify things considerably.

I agree with Commodus - these Britannia coins are very widely faked for obvious reasons and the question is, does the Tribunal year of XVII agree with the Consular year of IIII ?
I don't have time at the moment to look it up in RIC but if the two dates do not agree then it is the sign of a fake as many fakers do not understand the significance of these dates - rather like writing "29th February 2003".

Does that really matter in this case though?
Even the poor picture is more than enough to tell that it is not an ancient coin.
