« on: January 13, 2007, 04:26:03 pm »
I'm sure one of you will recognize this, it seems so familiar to me, but I couldn't find a match online.

A21, 7.4g

obv: female? figure standing left, holding scepter in right, ? in left over altar?
rev: KA [I or L], ? riding right

Thanks!

Andreas

Looks like Amphipolis in Macedonia for Traian to me.
I need some times to give you the exact Varbanov number, translating from Bulgarian, but coinarchives may help:

Hi Andreas!

Now that Luigi has pinned it I found a reference for you: it is AMNG III, 79.
Obv.  KAICAR TR - IANOC (beginning middle l.)
Trajanus with cuirass, boots and waving cloak on horse, gallopping r; with his raised r.
hand pointing the spear on an enemy laying on ground
Rev. AMFIP - OLEITWN
Long clothed Artemis Tauropolis with kalathos stg. l., with r. hand resting on long torch,
holding in lowered l. hand branch; shield on ground r.
1 ex. in Berlin

Best regards
