This coin was sold at the weekend at an online
auction mall, after being advertised on the seller's
shop on another coin mall.
I have never come across this
obverse legend for
Geta. The following legends have been
corrected from the seller's description:
Geta AE27 of Trapezopolis,
Caria. AD 209-211. 15.3 g.
PO CEP
GETAC EPIFANEC KAI, bare-headed, draped
bust right.
EPI ARX T ADRACTOY KE ZEYXIQEOY TRAPEZOPOLITWN, Demeter standing left, holding corn-ears and torch.
I have checked all my thousands of pdfs and five sagging shelves of coins of
Asia Minor but cannot find anything with this
obv. legend. I will be adding it to
wildwinds under the seller's
auction number and lot number, but thought I would ask here whether any of you have any thoughts about it.
