My first thought when I saw the
head was
Hadrian. The soldiers and standards
type (if we are thinking of the same
type) was struck much later on very much smaller coins.
If you think it looks like two people on the
reverse, it could be, for example,
Hadrian and another imperial figure shaking
hands.
It's a shame that the original
patina appears to be have been stripped - it may have shown more detail and bits of the
legend.
