Of course, you can send me sharp big pictures (bigger = better) of all these unlisted coins at any time, before publishing them (mail: notinric@lechstepniewski.info; circa 15-20 MB for 1 mail). Net is more friendly for pictures than print (costs close to zero). I will be extremely grateful and will check all attributions with pleasure.

The prices of those Serbian pressed fakes from either modern hand cut dies or heavily recut transfer dies is actaully not that low, I tried to get one huge lot with all but always got outbid and there must have been thousand of these on German ebay.
All from the same limited number of dies but die links between them and sometimes impossible die links.
No authentic coins known form these dies.
Sellers had other very obvious Serbian fakes for sale.
If you see them together it is getting even more obvious that they must be from the same Serbian workshop and in such cases it makes sense to post them together.

Jochen, your educational posts enlightening us about the details on ancient coins are no bother at all! From a purely aesthetic point of view, I'm more inclined to see the structure to the right on the exergue line as just Nike's other foot rather than as a fish or anything else.

I've seen so many mundane exergue lines on both ancient and modern coins that I actually love the way the die cutter has thickened the exergue line at both ends lending it the same aesthetic appeal as Nike's intricately rendered clothing. I also love incidentally the way the die cutter has furrowed the laureate bust's brow on the obverse complemented by the downcast eye lending it a look of concern.

I'm inclined to agree with Joe's observation that the reason the right side of the exergue line appears different from the left side is down to die wear. You can see the same granulated die wear on Nike's wing to the right. True, it does veer away from a straightforward ground-line but it's a nice artistic effect all the same.

I don't know if Nike has any maritime connections but I can't but help notice the wavelike formation on the laureate bust's cuirass and the ground-line's resemblance to a ship's curved prow. Perhaps I'm reading too much into that and giving the die cutter unwarranted artistic licence.

I served in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. Any looting is greatly exaggerated by US soldiers. In Iraq, a small detachment from my unit was at Babylon and every time the insurgents mortared the position and hit the ruins, we got blamed. To the point that they moved the base. I had a rock confiscated from me when I left by Customs that was in my pocket. Looting happened I am sure, but by Iraqis mainly.

This totally sounds like a scam and there are many scams using US forces as pretext, mostly romantic scams looking for money. I bought a coin in Ghazni in Afghanistan from a street vendor I posted here years ago, "an obvious tourist fake" and it was so bad Joe didn't even ask for a fake report. Very, very few Americans had any access to loot anything. And the US was totally stupid when it came to allowing us to take "war trophies" to the point it was nuts. No flags, no nothing. All I got out was a small tile from one of Saddam's palaces that was lying on the ground when I found it (like 30 mm wide) and a small piece of shrapnel I dug out of my living quarters after a mortar attack (and there was no reason not to be allowed to have that, but I had to hide it). If Customs had found that, they would have taken them. I guarantee no wide scale looting of coins or anything else happened by us. I bet you are getting targeted because of Wildwinds and most, if not all, are actually not Americans and the coins are probably fakes or non-existent and pictures taken off the Internet.

I saw your comment, and I am sympathetic to your frustration and complaint. I wanted to publish all of the coin photos, but the editors refused because of the amount of space it would take up (another 30+ pages of colored photos) and financial cost. This is often the case when an author does not publish images of all the coins (someone else always says no). I would share them with you, but the rights are owned by the Eregli Karadeniz Museum. I hope to publish all of the coins with images as soon as possible.

As I was rushed to complete the project, there will obviously be some errors.  Would you kindly point out the misattribution and I will correct it (and give you credit of course once all of the coins are published)?
