need a little help with this one
« on: November 11, 2008, 04:00:19 pm »
Hi guys,
This legend doesnt look right to me
I can read some letters but it is not making sense.
I have been working on this one for a few days and am going cross eyed,
so I feel justified in asking for help.
Can anybody transcribe the legend and most importantly
who is the king? May be Hyrcanus I group F?
I really like the reverse cornucopia, pomegranate and ribbons are nice
and its the only one I have with a nice last letter Mem.
Thanks for the help everyone.

I can recognize only "KHN HGDL WKWR YHDIM". Sorry, no king name. But, by the general style I suppose that it is Yehonatan.

I agree with Explorer
no preist name is visable, it is out of flan, so extremly hard to ID, but mostly Hyrcanus II, Hendin 478 depending on the cornocopia style and the HUH in the scrept posetion.
all the best

Thanks for the replies,
I can see    B
                   D H Y H R
                       M Y

But I still cant make out the previous letters
can I assume that they say aside from the missing name
the standard "High Priest and Council of the Jews".

Also, what TJC group is Hendin 478 in?

It looks like an 'S' group to me, but I'm not certain.
