Roman lead sling bullet?

(1/2) > >>

Aureolus:
Any ideas?

It is around 21mm long.

Molinari:
I would guess later than roman if it is a projectile.  Greek and Roman sling bullets were almond shaped, so far as I know.

Basherlock1:
It looks to me like it could be a carved bullet. I know that soldiers in the American Civil War would frequently carve designs into bullets as a form of recreation or to make game pieces.

Here are a few pictures of carved bullets from the Civil War.

Having more information on where the item was found would be a big help as well.

Good luck,

-Ben

Aureolus:
They dug this up in the balkans  :P

Basherlock1:
Most likely not an American civil war bullet in that case.
