I was browsing in RIC VII and on page 576 I found a 30 Solidi GAVDIVM ROMANORVM. The coin weighs 253.72gm! What is the story of this coin ? Why is this coin minted and why the 30 solidi? I could not find a picture of this coin, but perhaps someone can?

hi,

there are solidi of constantine with this inscription commemorating victory against alamanni. it could be possible that the medaillon was minted on the same occasion.

greetings

It is most likely a medallion with the 30 solidi deonomination assigned to it on basis of weight - I presume it would weigh as much as 30 solidi.
