Darius/Phraates III
« on: June 17, 2007, 08:41:46 am »
I need help from parthian coins specialists.
Here are 4 coins of Darius/Phraates III, all with Mithradatkart monogramm, and with the best similar style.
I am not completely sure about the fourth.
- the style is OK
- the text is perfectly exact
- the weight, 4,12g, is OK (4,13 - 4,16 - 4,13 for the others)
However :
- the coin is very flat (often the parthian coins are a little "scyphate")
- the letters are not very sharp (?)
- red arrow : is it a broken of die or something else ?

Thank you for your opinion
Regards,
Alain

Hi Alwin,

For me it looks like a very thin die break.

BTW very nice coin, congrats.

JC
