Countermarked Greek Schnauzer.. :)

(1/1)

featherz:
Anyone know the city on this coin, per chance? I posted this a while back in the countermark thread for a great example of a turtlenecked Schnauzer c/m! :)

Edessa:
Wild guess, could the c/m be a roman style cuirass as seen on this Nero Sestertius?

Heather,

Your coin was struck in Lysimacheia, in Thrace. Obv: Head of Herakles right  Rev. Artemis standing right holding two torches. As to the countermarks, the obverse one is a facing lion's scalp, the reverse is a grain ear. Both countermarks are present on the example in SNG Copenhagen 904. SNG Copenhagen 903 has just the lion's scalp.
