Excellent post from Joe and very cool links.

Here's mine - copper alloy; 60mm x 61mm/40gm.

Ground-found in a field near the Roman city of Mursa in Croatia, located on the Drava River only a few miles from the confluence of the Danube River. Mursa was an important riverine base for Roman patrol ships which guarded the banks, not only looking for any invaders, but to also ensure that trading boats had a safe journey. Possibly from a Roman marine?

The inscriptions on each side do NOT photo well, but when held into the light at the correct angle are more readily seen.
The front has four sort of legible lines, and the reverse has five lines.

This fragment arrived months ago and like Joe our host here on Forum, I was and still am, not sure what to do with it.
 
So far, I have only and gently, addressed the inscriptions, and nothing else. I have tried to trace them on paper and make impressions, but no go as they are too faint.

Any suggestions as how to make them clearer will be highly appreciated!

Another great fragment.  I'll do my best at trying to translate over the next few days.  Stultus is the real expert though.  I can already make out full portions of the text!

I'm guessing SECVNDO is the name of one of the consuls, which will make it easier to figure out a time frame

I have been very slowly and very carefully going over the engravings to not only make them a bit more legible, but to also ensure that I'm not seeing what isn't really there. Savvy?

Here is my translation of the obverse, top to bottom, for what it's worth as my Latin is minimal. Ha Ha!

ADVXISSEN = To Help, Helping
PR K IVN = PR, Day before. K means the Kalend or Month. IVN = June.  Or the last day of Maius (May)
SECVNDO COS = The 2nd Consulship of the current emperors or consuls
CVITRAEST = Military Unit
TRANVS? Obscure as it could mean channel or passing/moving? VOCONT = I am free on...or Will be free on?
The rest of the legends are too faint to be read.

Does this make sense or am I misinterpreting?
