Gallery photo size issues, new today

I tried adding photos to my gallery today that were around 1.4MB in size.  The last time I uploaded files 2 or 3 days ago, this file size was fine.  I'm now getting an error saying they need to be under 1MB each.  This really does limit the ability to click on photos and see more detailed images.

Is this an intentional change? Do I need to start posting only lower res images?

Typically my ideal gallery photo file size is about 1.4MB as a tradeoff between resolution and file size.

We've changed the maximum file size to 2Mb
