Paeonian Hoard Catalog

(1/2) > >>

Blayne W:
Does anyone have access to the Catalogue of the Paeonian Hoard being Coins in Gold and Silver of the Kings of Macedon and Silver of the Independent Kingdom of Paeonia published by Sotheby & Co in 1969.  I am specifically looking for info on Paeonian Hoard 400; Peykov E2140.  Picked up a coin which was tagged with that as the id.

Obv: Laureate head of Apollo right /
Rev: ΠΑΤΡΑΟΥ, warrior on horse rearing right, thrusting spear at enemy below who defends with shield; retrograde ME monogram behind horse's rear legs.

Thank you

Altamura:
The BnF has a specimen from this hoard probably made from the same dies than your coin:

http://coinhoards.org/id/igch0410
but they don't give a clear reference to the Sotheby auction :(.

Regards

Altamura
