TIBERIUS from AD 36

(1/1)

cscoppa:
I have a Tiberius, given to me as part of a very generious and thoughtful present, with part of the reverse reading "OTXXXVII" very clearly. Sear lists that as from 36AD. This is a key and truly narrows it down to Tiberius. I can't find a RIC number for this year of his coinage for a coin showing a globe with a rudder flanked by large SC. I have narrowed my collecting down to ANTs from about 270 to 306 and do not have a RIC volume as early as this requires. :'( Wish I could afford the whole set.

I can add a scan tonight (USA - Eastern time), but it should not be necessary given the rudder/globe and the XXXVII.

THANKS...........Chip

Rugser,

Thanks your help was GREAT just what I was looking for. I think that June 27th 35 through June 26th 36 should be the time covered for XXXVII of Tiberius. Your guess for 35 would be better as coins were most likely made at the start of the Tribunician year. If any one knows for a fact if that is true let us know or were they made throught the year?

Chip

PS your coin is a much better grade than mine, but mine is precious for me
