Here is my other example with the same obverse die. It is an AE27 but I don't have the weight because I am at work and do not have the collection catalog handy. Will provide that information later.

A correction for Macrinus

After an interesting discussion in Forum Ancient Coins the following coin of Macrinus from Nicopolis turned out to be fake: Nicopolis, Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2017) No. 8.23.8.5

Please take a look at the thread " A run of fake provincials":
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=110804.msg675437#msg675437 (reply #1)

This coin should be deleted from the catalogue! Sadly it is from my collection.

Too bad about the fakes, which would have fooled me too!

Since the fakes are clearly casts of authentic originals, they could/should be left in the catalogue, with the note that they are casts, but represent genuine originals whose present location is unknown.

A completely new rev. type for Severus

Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
AE 16, 2.72g, 16.37mm, 225°
obv. AV K L C - CEVHROC
       Laureate head r.
rev. NIKOPOLIT[WN PRO]C I
Crescent with 3 stars in an arc above the moon
ref. a) not in AMNG
      b) not in Varbanov

          rev. not listed
obv. e.g. No. 8.14.20.10 (same die)

coll. Hoeft

An unusual depiction. But there are no traces of a 4th star in the cavity.

A new die combination and a new obv. legend for Severus

Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
AE 18, 3.48g, 18.48mm, 180°
obv. AV K A(sic!) - CEVHROC
       Laureate head r.
rev. NIKOPOLIT PROC ICTRW
Crescent with 1 star in the cavity
ref.: a) not in AMNG
       b) not in Varbanov
       c) not in Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2017):
           rev. No. 8.14.48.17
           obv. not listed
coll. Hoeft

All the time I was convinced, that AV K A doesn't make sense and should be read AV K L. But here it is clearly AV K A, not AV K L. I think it's an error of the die cutter.

      b) not in Varbanov
