Siscia mint books and references
« on: January 13, 2022, 09:26:16 pm »
Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions on books or other literature that deal exclusively with Siscia mint. Also if someone has available an online reference for a list of emperors and empresses that had their image featured on coins minted in Siscia. I'll try to collect one of each historical figure minted at Siscia but haven't been able to locate a complete list.

Thank you in advance!

Not aware that such book specialized in Siscia was produced.
For Probus there is work by Alfoldy.

To obtain the full list of rulers on Siscian coins, the best is to use several volumes of RIC (V/I - X) which cover the coinage of the period when Siscia mint was active.

Sadly very few individual Roman mints have received dedicated attention on their own - i.e. outside full-coverage works like RIC and Maurice.  I know of works dedicated to London, Trier, Lyons/Lugdunum, Arelate and Aquileia - though not all cover the entire period.

Siscia is an important mint that deserves attention and has yet to get it.
