Ancient and Medieval Coin Identification Help / Re: Help ID Coin 5
« Last post by Gianluca G on Today at 05:53:12 am »
On the reverse you can read    for the seleucid year CΞΡ = 166, corresponding to 147/6 BC. So the coin is from Alexander I Balas: http://numismatics.org/sco/id/sc.1.1838

Niespecjalnie nowe (lipiec 2020) i dogłębne (w końcu to NG), ale dość ładnie zebrane parę ciekawostek z tego, co się dzieje w ostatnich latach w Pompejach:

The Members' Gallery / Re: CPK Collection additions

I just finished uploading several more coins, all Roman Imperial bronzes:

Vespasian as, very scarce left-facing portrait variation:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=186494

Trajan as, scarce and interesting type with shield and weapons:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=186496

A very rare as of Gordian III with an interesting reverse scene:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=186497

And a classic, a big beefy sestertius of Nero, Temple of Janus reverse:

Thanks for looking! And thanks for all of your previous comments and compliments, by the way - I appreciate it!  :)

Hi carp,

The legend at the top of the reverse isn't clear, but it may be "...ANAZ...HTP...". This would be a reference to Anazarbus.

Hi carp,

Based on the "AMK" at the bottom of the reverse, it may be Cilicia, possibly Tarsos.
