New sestertius from Antoninus Pius (reverse Felicitas Aug.)
« on: March 12, 2012, 02:12:06 pm »
Hi,
a sestertius from Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD) in the portrait gallery. Very high relief. I do like Antonius portraits (a mix of majesty and some "sadness" - at least in my view).

Hi,

I did copy the link to you (see below) as, when I try to do it when posting the text (in the attach section), it goes automatically to my personal computer and not to the already built document (text + photo) in the member's gallery so I'm certainly missing something somewhere ......

Yes, I agree Antoninus strikes a very emotive profile.  One might say they are very Lincolnesque (or that Lincoln's profile are very Antonine).  At any rate it's a beautiful coin, congratulations.

That is a very nice coin!

Yes, having both sides in the same pic would be great.

Hi
thanks to everybody for your comments + a special thanks to Kained but able for stitching the 2 faces of the coin (are you on Mac by chance ? It seems that most softwares used for stitching are under Windows).
Back to the coin, yes, it is definitely better in hand.
Have a nice day.

Is Google Picasa available to MAC users? It is free and its collage feature will stitch them together.

Hi and many thanks, Robin

yes it does work. I'm at least able to stitch both sides of a coin but it is not over yet (still have to deal with the macro side - i.e the Constantine aureus -).
I will break through one day ........
Thanks again for the ones who did help me prior to this advance.
Best
